On Friday 3 December 2009 some 120 children from local primary
schools assembled in Bury Knowle Park in a marvellous
variety of colourful costumes to participate in the journey to
Bethlehem. They met Mary and Joseph, shepherds, and kings. Sheep were
sought and a star was assembled.. Processing through Headington, Mary
and Joseph were refused
admission at a hostelry but welcomed into All Saints' Church
for a talk and another carol, a blessing by the Vicar, and lots of
cakes and lemonade. This was Headington's second pageant, mounted with
the expert help of Fusion Youth and Community, and was much enjoyed by
all the participants. Thanks to all who worked so hard, and gave
generously of their time, especially the stewards from Absolute Events
Solutions.

The sun shone, and over 1500 people came and enjoyed the free fun

The 2008 AGM was well-attended, and following a keynote address by
Rt.Revd. John Pritchard, Bishop of Oxford, there was lively
discussion of how we could take forward ecumenical work in
Headington. Read the formal reports by the Chair on Churches Together's activities
in the year, and a summary of the

This year the churches in Headington met almost every day during the
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity for worship reflecting the styles of
the individual churches. On the Friday preceding the week there were
ecumenical
prayers at the Priory, Old High Street. On Sunday evening an evening
celebration at Holy Trinity, Headington Quarry, featured drama, songs,
and reading on the theme of 'He who would be greatest among you ...'.
On Monday evening we met for prayers for unity at Cornerstone Christian
Centre, Headington Quarry, and on Tuesday morning for eucharist at St
Mary's, Barton. Wednesday evening featured bible study at Collinwood
Road URC, and Thursday afternoon the fellowship meeting at Lime Walk
Methodist Church. Friday was a rest day. Saturday morning saw
ecumenical morning prayer at
Corpus Christi Catholic church, and on the final Sunday afternoon there
was a

of service, with the Rev. Professor Paul Fiddes as a most
stimulating preacher.
On the morning of Saturday 4 April 2009 over 100

In the park Headington Baptist Church (Chris Band) hosted
a half-hour service with prayers by Dick Woolf (Collinwood
URC) and Rosemary Davies (Lime Walk Methodist). There was a vivid
presentation of the world turned upside down from Tim Stead (Holy
Trinity, Headington Quarry) and a superb dramatic sketch casting new
light on the Entry into Jerusalem by children from St Andrew's C of E
Primary School.
The service was followed by refreshments provided
by HBC. The sun shone
on the proceedings, as it had done in 2008.
The play written by
Helen Foster began with the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and
subsequent episodes involving St Peter drawn from the Acts of the
Apostles. It went on to trace the main events of Jesus's life, death,
and resurrection in a series of flashbacks as Peter recalled them to
John Mark. The large cast was drawn from a wide range of congregations.
