Rev. Rosemary Davies writes:

Dear Friends ,

Those of you who were present at the AGM last night, will be aware that we were able to elect a Secretary and Treasurer for the coming year but the position of Chairperson still remains vacant. It was agreed at the AGM that the best way forward in this interim period is to ask for volunteers (both lay and ordained) to take a turn at chairing a committee meeting so that the work of the committee can be discussed and decisions made.

So, as outgoing Chair, I attach :

a)      A list of dates of committee meetings for the next 6 months up to the AGM in 2017. If you are able to chair one of the meetings, then please let us all know which date you can manage. There are also some gaps as regards venues for the meetings, so if your church can host a meeting, then please let us all know by email.

b)      Some background information about the role of chair. I’m happy to have a conversation with anyone who might like to talk further about what’s involved.

I think we’re all conscious that this situation is not ideal but it’s where we are at the moment and we hope and pray that a chair person will be appointed sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, we need to support each other in our ecumenical work and in offering our services to chair the meetings.  I think it is up to the person chairing an individual meeting to liaise with our minutes secretary, Bridget Walker to draw up an agenda for the meeting and arrange distribution of papers to committee members.  Bridget will be producing an up-to-date mailing list and will distribute it in due course.

Thank you for the support I have received in my role as chair over the past 5 years and I shall continue to share in the life of the committee and the work of Churches Together in our community.

Every blessing,
