Easter 2018
Peter proclaims in his first great speech on the day of Pentecost: “Christ is the one who was not abandoned to Hades and whose body did not experience corruption. God raised this man Jesus to life and all of us are witnesses to that.” (Acts 2:31-32).  Christians today continue the witnessing of this central truth, the greatest miracle of the Scriptures, the one to which all the others point.

After the Resurrection, the Lord appeared to his disciples in the Upper Room and bestowed peace upon them (John 20:20).  The well-known Hebrew word Shalom with which the Lord addresses them is not a shallow greeting but the fullness of every blessing, the source of all peace.

Peace is the greatest gift that we can receive – peace with God, peace in our inner-selves, in our families, our society and our world.  Although we cannot see him the Risen Lord stands in our midst every day bestowing this Shalom.  We pray for each other that this peace may be ours and that we might spread this peace, renewed as we are by our life-giving celebration of Easter.

A Happy and Blessed Easter to all.
