St Ebbe's in Headington is a friendly, evangelical Anglican church
family, part of St Ebbe's Church
in Oxford.
Two
congregations of St Ebbe's Church meet in Headington at 10.30
a.m. and 7.30 p.m. in Lime Walk. They are led by Al Horn, under
the overall leadership of the Rector of St Ebbe's, Vaughan
Roberts. A range of midweek activities, some intended primarily
for Christians and others of enquirers, take place in addition to the
two Sunday services.
Central to each Sunday service is a reading and a 20-30 minute talk
from the Bible. There is also a lively mixture of traditional
hymns, modern songs and times of prayer. Tea and coffee are
served after both services. Communion is held approximately every
5-6 weeks.
A large cross-section of the local community attends,
including families (especially at 10.30 a.m.), Brookes students,
teachers, medics, retired folk and many others. Visitors are
always extremely welcome.

There
are crèches at both the 10.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Sunday
services, and organised children's activities at 10.30 a.m.
'Splat!' is a time of 'messy play' for parents and toddlers, held
each Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 12 noon during school term.
'Focus' is a weekly group for Brookes students, meeting every
Thursday 7.15 p.m. - 9.15 p.m. during the semesters.
There are also fortnightly small groups meeting in congregation
members' houses, and a monthly prayer meeting. 'Christianity
Explored' courses run periodically for those keen to find out more
about the Christian faith. Please ask for more details.
